 Charter Oak Park

Renovated and re-dedicated in 2003, Charter Oak Park is located at the point of Washington Street and Mentor Avenue across from Lake Erie College.  It is also the site of a "Charter Oak" an Oak Tree transplanted here from Connecticut, and also serves the final resting place of our City's founder, General Edward Paine.

Ella Shaw Park

Formerly know as Lexington Park, this small park was dedicated to the memory of former councilwoman Ella Shaw.  Be sure to check out the playground here! Located off of Lexington Ave. (off of Newell St.)this park also provides an open area to picnic or just enjoy the outdoors.

Grand River Conservation Area

The 16-acre site a natural floodplain for the river — was  home to the Gristmill and Millstone condominium complexes until July 2006, when the Great Flood buried some of the buildings in more than 17 feet of water, rendering them uninhabitable.

The city was able to complete acquisition and floodplain restoration, thanks to millions of dollars in grants from the Federal Emergency Management and Ohio Environmental Protection agencies. 

The park offers close to a mile of trails, between a hardened path and wood-chip walkways meandering among wetlands.

 Huntington Park

A Community Park, situated on the old Huntington Elementary School property, this park has a fun playground, and open space to enjoy the great outdoors.

 Kiwanis Recreation Park

The City's largest park at 75 acres, is located next to the scenic Grand River which offers great fishing opportunities. You can view the Grand River from our 1/2 mile long Riverwalk walking path.

The park include 9 ball diamonds used by various leagues as well as the City Schools varsity and junior varsity programs and Lake Erie College.

Additional Park Amenities: Basketball Court, Fishing (pond and river), Skate Park, Two Playground Areas, Three Reservable Shelters, an 18 Disc Golf Course, Picnic Tables, Restrooms, Grills, Walking Trail, and is also home to Painesville DEK Hockey 

 

 Lathrop Park

Marine Park

There is a fun playground structure, a walking path, some benches, and plenty of open space for your family and even the dog! Marine Park is located on Stonehaven Dr. which is off of South State Street.  Limited parking is available.

Morse Ave. Community Center & Park

This park has a basketball court, playground and plenty of open space for soccer, and many other field games. The community center at the park is home to summer and after-school programs, and is also available for meetings and events. The Center is available for rental for parties at a minimum cost of $100 for the first three hours and $30 for each additional hour to City residents, for non-residents it's $150 for the first three hours and $45 each additional hour. Plus a refundable $100 deposit for all rentals. Rental information is available at the Recreation office.

Rotary Park

Rotary Park (formerly called North Park) was renamed in 1996 after the local Painesville Rotary Club donated thousands of dollars and many hours of labor to revitalize and renovate this small neighborhood park. This 4 1/2 acre park is located off Hine Avenue.

 

State Street Park

Trailwood Park

A small 1.5 acre open area off of Trailwood Dr. (between Cedarbrook and Kensington) ideal for picnicking or simply relaxing and listening to the birds!

Veterans' Park

1 Liberty St. Painesville, Ohio

A City park since 1800 is located in downtown Painesville and is the pride of downtown Painesville offering beautiful gardens and plenty of open green space. The park has a Gazebo that is very popular as a site for weddings. Gazebo rentals run $25 to residents and $50 to non-residents for two hours.

Facility Rules and Regulations

Veterans Park is the location of several special events throughout the year including our Easter Egg Hunt, Earth Day Celebration, Farmer's Market, Summer Gazebo Concerts, Party in the Park, National Night Out Against Crime, and the Spirit of the Season.  For more information contact the Painesville Recreation Division at 440-392-5912.
