The City of Painesville is an equal opportunity employer with many opportunities within the Painesville City Fire Department from volunteer positions to part-time firefighting and full time career firefighter positions.

 

Firefighter, full time career

 

All full time career firefighters with the City of Painesville are Civil Service with the exception of the Fire Chief.   Hiring for the position of firefighter is done through a competitive testing procedure.  The tests are certified and are good for two years from date of certification.

 

Job requirements and conditions of employment include;

·        Applicants must be State of Ohio Certified Firefighter level II prior to being hired

·        Applicants must be State of Ohio Certified EMT-Paramedic prior to being hired.

·        Applicants must remain tobacco free for duration of employment with the Painesville City Fire Department

·        Applicants must annually pass a physical agility test.

 

Firefighter, part-time

 

The City of Painesville takes applications for the position of part-time firefighter on an on going basis.  You may contact the Painesville City Fire Department Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 440.392.5852 or the Human Resource Office during normal business hours at 440.392.5787 for information and an application.

 

Job requirements and conditions of employment include;

·        Must be State of Ohio certified Firefighter Level II prior to being hired

·        Must be State of Ohio certified EMT Basic prior to being hired

·        Must be in possession of a current certificate of completion of the physical Agility test from Cuyahoga Community College at time of application

  

Volunteer positions

 

 

The Painesville City Fire Department is in the process of developing job descriptions for volunteer positions.  Positions being considered include;

·        Volunteer educators

·        Volunteer photographers/historians

·        Volunteer clerical help
