To establish service, you are asked to apply in person at the Utilities Office located at City Hall, 7 Richmond Street, Painesville, Ohio. You will need a driver's license or some other picture identification and your social security number. Depending on heating source and apartment or single-family a $100.00, $150.00 or $200.00 refundable deposit is required at the time of application. Utility accounts shall be listed in one name only and the person whose name appears on the account is responsible for payment of bills and is entitled to the deposit refund when the account is closed.
The Utilities Office is pleased to offer a new service to our customers - automatic bank draft debit. To obtain bank draft information, contact the Utilities Office at (440) 392-5797.
Utility bills may be paid by mail or paid in person at City Hall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is a night deposit box at City Hall for use after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. The box is located in the back parking lot (entrance off Erie Street) across from the Fire Division. All payments must be received on or before the due date listed on the bill to avoid any further action by the City. Failure to receive any utility bill will not excuse late payment. Services disconnected for nonpayment cannot be restored until all due payments and reconnection fees have been paid or other suitable payment arrangements have been made.
