From time to time, the City establishes special committees to address specific issues, projects, or areas of community interest. These committees are typically formed for a defined purpose and may meet on an as-needed basis.




Charter Review Committee

Every 10 years, City Council appoints a Charter Review Committee to evaluate the City Charter and recommend any updates or amendments.

The next charter review is scheduled for 2033. Any proposed changes are submitted to voters for approval at the November 2033 election.

Public Participation:
Public comment is permitted at the end of each meeting. Residents must notify the Clerk of Council in advance to be placed on the agenda.

All meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in Courtroom #1, 7 Richmond Street. Charter amendments can be submitted to the Clerk of Council at [email protected]. Please note the deadlines listed. 

Public comment is permitted at the end of each meeting by residents of the City of Painesville, only. Those residents who wish to address the Charter Review Committee at the end of the meeting must first notify the Clerk of Council in writing ([email protected] or Samantha Danielson at 7 Richmond Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077), not later than two weeks prior to the day of the meeting they will attend. Said notice must include the topic, concern or proposal the resident will be commenting on. Those speaking will be first asked to provide their name and address and will have two minutes to comment only on those items reasonably relating to the evening's agenda and to the topic and/or proposal or concern they described in their notice to the Council Clerk. 

 


Citizens' Safety Committee

The Citizens’ Safety Committee was established to provide community input on Police and Fire services; and citizen input on programs and services.
