Abandoned Gas Station Clean-Up Grant

Painesville City received funds from the Ohio Controlling Board’s Abandoned Gas Station Clean Up Grant to excavate 735 S State Street near the 5-points intersection. This will allow the property to more attractive for future business and a development agreement is in the works for a new restaurant/food establishment at this location.

Smoothie King Painesville

Chase Bank Building Restoration

December 2020

The former Chase Bank building on Painesville Square has transferred title to a local developer who is currently presenting plans to house graduate students of Lake Erie College. The developer has been awarded a $1.9 million Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit from the Ohio Development Services Agency for the restoration project.

Meritec Expands

November 2020

Ohio Associated Enterprises LLC in Painesville announced plans to relocate a portion of its Chico, California business to Painesville, adding 88 local jobs and retaining 177 jobs. Ohio Associate Enterprises is the holding company for Meritec in Painesville and Joy Signal Technology in Chico.

Signature Health's Painesville Medical Center

Signature Health’s new $6 million outpatient health care facility is currently under remodel at 54 South State Street. The project is expected to bring up to 50 new jobs to the downtown district and is projected to be complete the second half of 2021. This center is designed to bring health care benefits at an affordable cost to all residents.

Marine Manufacturing Opens

June 2020

Marine Manufacturing Group LLC moved into the old COE manufacturing site, 605 S State Street. The world renowned boat manufacture recently merged Seattle Yachts and Tartan Legacy Yachts, an operation that produces Tartan Sailing Yachts, Legacy Downeast Yachts, and AMP brand carbon fiber masts and spears. The company will bring a number of jobs to the city.

Chipotle Opens in Downtown Painesville

Chipotle has officially opened it's doors (and Chipotlane for mobile orders) at 7 W Jackson Street in the downtown. The Economic Development office worked closely with commercial real estate firm Anchor Cleveland and Diverse Development to secure an ideal location. 

Real Estate Firm Buys Victoria Place

November 2019

Renew Partners, a real estate firm based in Northeast Ohio, purchased Victoria Place (located in the corner of Painesville Square). The massive 191,000 square foot property was originally a retail mall and is currently used as an office complex for 13 tenants. Renew Partners is looking to redevelop the property into a commercial and retail space with potentially apartments to add to the continued revitalization of the downtown.

New Painesville Dental Group Offices

June 2019

Long-time Painesville business, Painesville Dental Group, upgraded to a new-build 4,900 foot facility at 150 Mentor Avenue. The building design features traditional style motif with brick, siding and shake design elements. The new facility opened to customers in March 2020. In addition to their home location, the dental practice has branches in Jefferson and Chardon.

Rodewald Manufacturing Opens

May 2019

This fabrication company snatched up the 72,000 square foot property of the old COE Manufacturing plant at 608 Bank Street. Rodewald offers services including laser cutting, forming, welding and assembly. They intend to lease out part of the facility to another manufacturer. 

AeroFluid Expansion

September 2018

AeroFluid Products, an aerospace design and manufacturing company, added 30,000 square feet to their existing building at 313 Gillett Street. The expansion created 40 full-time jobs with an anticipated payroll of $2.3 million.

Mar-Bal Expansion

August 2018

Mar-Bal Inc, a leader in the thermoset composite industry, expanded its manufacturing facility at 787 Renaissance Parkway. The now 110,000 square foot plant, resulted in over 100 new jobs in the city.
