Painesville Extends Trash Service with Republic
At the January 17 Painesville City Council Meeting, Council voted to approve an extension of the City’s seven year refuse and recycling contract with Republic Services.
City Administration reached an agreement with Republic Services to extend the current contract from July 1, 2023 to June 31, 2026. Although the cost of gasoline and materials have increased significantly the past year, Republic Services has agreed to extend the same services at the originally agreed upon yearly price increase that was set in 2016.

Per the agreement, Republic collects an unlimited amount of trash on weekly collection days, including bulk items that can be placed at the curb. Recycling service, which is highly encouraged, is collected every other week for a small additional fee.
Yard waste is also included in the contract and is collected every other week at no additional cost to residents. Yard waste collection begins the week of April 15 and ends the week of December 15, with weekly pick up added in the fall for leaf collection.
