Painesville Hires New Finance Director
At the first Painesville City Council meeting of the year, City Manager Doug Lewis announced his appointment of Bill Parkinson to the open position of Painesville Finance Director.
Parkinson comes to Painesville with a background of finance in the public school systems. Most recently he served two years as Treasurer/CFO of Bedford City School District and eight years as Treasurer/CFO of Willoughby-Eastlake City School District. He holds a bachelor of science in business, accounting and finance from Miami University.
“I am very happy to welcome Bill as the new Finance Director,” said Lewis. “Bill brings over 20 years of finance experience after serving as treasurer for various school districts. He has undergone software conversions and has experience with fund accounting which set him apart from other candidates. I look forward to working with him as we move the City of Painesville forward.”
“I am looking forward to being a part of a dynamic city that is currently engaged in several great development projects,” said Parkinson.
The role opened after former finance director, Andy Unetic, announced his departure to Cleveland Heights in October 2022. The city’s finance director oversees both the Finance Department and Utilities Billing Department. Parkinson began his new role on January 9.
