South State Street to close for emergency sewer repairs

The City of Painesville will close a portion of South State Street on Wednesday, May 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to allow for emergency sanitary sewer repairs.

South State Street will be closed between Washington Street and Walnut Street, while Bank Street will also be closed between Walnut and State. With the full closure in place, the contractor expects to complete the repairs in one day, rather than the three days required under a partial lane closure.

A posted detour will direct traffic from Washington Street to Liberty Street to East Walnut Street. Local traffic will still be able to access Bank Street via East Walnut Street.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detours, and use caution in the area while work is underway.
