Trash and recycling cart transition begins in mid-June
As the City of Painesville transitions to a new waste collection provider, Republic Services will begin removing its trash and recycling carts following residents’ final pickup during the week of June 22 -26.
Residents are asked to leave all blue Republic Services carts at the curb after their final collection that week. Carts should remain there until they are retrieved by Republic Services.
According to Republic Services, only one attempt will be made to collect the carts, so residents are encouraged to make sure all carts are accessible on their designated collection day.
Starting the week of June 15, the City’s new provider, Major Waste Disposal, will begin delivering their new carts for trash and recycling collection. As such, residents may have two sets of carts for a week or two during the transition. The City appreciates your patience as we transition to Major Waste.
Major Waste will begin trash and recycling pickup in Painesville on Monday, June 29. Your traditional collection day will remain the same.
Those who are enrolled in automatic payments with Republic Services should also remember to cancel their autopay arrangements. Questions regarding the new service should be directed to Major Waste Disposal at (440) 254-4929.
The significant changes in the new service include: weekly recycling pick-up, weekly seasonal yard waste pick-up, and Senior Citizen discount (ages 65 and older).
Painesville City Ordinance Chapter 955 requires all property owners of one, two, and three family dwellings to establish and maintain refuse collection with the City’s selected contractor.
