Utility Shut-Offs Resume on March 1, 2021
Painesville Electric and Water customers are advised that utility shut-off for non-payment will resume again starting on March 1, 2021. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the City of Painesville suspended disconnection of utility services due to non-payment to align with best practices around the State of Ohio. As of March 1, we will resume termination of services for non-payment.
If you need financial assistance to pay your utility bill, there are options available:
- Call Lifeline, Inc at 2-1-1 to be connected to a list of Lake County assistance agencies. There are multiple funding sources dedicated to helping those who need utility help in the winter months and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lifeline can help walk you through what you may qualify for.
- If you are not eligible for funding assistance or are unable to pay the past-due balance on your bill, you can contact our Utilities Billing office to make suitable payment arrangement/plan to bring your account current. We are willing to work with you if a realistic payment plan is in place, however, we urge customers to contact our offices as soon as possible to make these arrangements. Our business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at 440-392-5797.
If you cannot meet an established payment plan or simply do not pay your past-due status in full, your utilities will be shut off beginning March 1.
IMPORTANT: A notice with this information was sent to ALL Painesville Electric customers instead of just those who are past-due. This was a simple clerical error. If your account is up-to-date, no action is needed. If your account is past due, please call 440-392-5797. Thank you.
