Consumer complaints and fraud reporting

The City of Painesville reminds residents that state and federal resources are available to consumers who believe they have experienced fraud, a scam, deceptive business practices or other consumer-related issues.

Residents with concerns are encouraged to report them directly to the appropriate consumer protection agency. Filing a complaint not only provides an opportunity to document your individual concern, but can also help state and federal agencies identify patterns of potentially improper business practices.

 

Ohio Attorney General – Consumer Protection Section

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office accepts complaints involving consumer transactions and disputes with businesses. Complaints may be filed online or by calling (800) 282-0515.

Federal Trade Commission

The Federal Trade Commission accepts reports involving fraud, scams and bad business practices. The FTC uses consumer reports to identify trends and assist law enforcement efforts.
