GoBus Expansion brings expanded transit services to Painesville

The Ohio Department of Transportation recently announced a major expansion of Ohio’s GoBus intercity transit network, adding four new routes designed to improve transportation access in rural and underserved communities.

The expansion will extend GoBus service to Painesville, as well as other communities including Bowling Green, Fremont, Marion, Middletown, Oxford, Upper Sandusky, and Yellow Springs.

GoBus connects riders to jobs, healthcare, higher education, and other destinations across the state. Operated in partnership with Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action Program, the service features motor coaches with free Wi-Fi, power outlets, extra leg room, restrooms, and seat belts at every seat.

Now in its 15th year, GoBus served more than 129,000 riders in 2024 and currently connects 36 Ohio cities. With the expansion, the system is expected to grow to nine total routes serving 47 counties statewide.
