New Economic Development Director Announced

At the Monday, November 21 Painesville City Council meeting, City Manager Doug Lewis announced his appointment of Susan Crotty to the open position of Painesville Economic Development Director.

Crotty comes to Painesville from Lima, with a resume that includes 22 years of public sector experience in economic development and community development, as well as 11 years’ experience in the private sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Ohio State University and is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council.

“It’s very exciting to see how many great projects are already in the pipeline for Painesville,” said Crotty. “I look forward to helping bring those projects to completion and I’m excited to initiate new development projects that positively impact the City and its residents.”

“Susan brings a great deal of knowledge and experience in economic development and will be able to hit the ground running,” said Lewis. “The City is seeking new industrial and commercial developments and I know she is up to the challenge.”

The role opened after former Economic Development Director Cathy Bieterman, announced her departure after 17 years in September 2022. Crotty will start her new role on January 3.
