August 6 Storm Damage Updates

Power Outages

9:00 AM (Aug 7) STORM UPDATE: After 18 straight hours of work, our Painesville Electric crew has all circuits back up and power restored to the majority of the system. There are still individual/small street outages due to down trees that crews are working on. Most of these involve removing large trees before they can begin work on reconnecting lines. Thank you for your patience as they continue to work on these throughout today.

If you are a Painesville Electric customer and are still without power, please call the 24/7 outage hotline at 440-392-5954 (if you have not already reported the outage). If you are in the surrounding area and a First Energy customer, we have no insight on restoration for you. Thank you for your patience.

8:00 PM STORM UPDATE: Painesville Electric crews continue to restore customers throughout the system. There are many scattered outages due to trees and it will take some time. To report an outage, call the 24/7 hotline at 440-392-5954. When we receive many calls at once, the system clicks over to a customer service center. We are still receiving those messages! It just means we need help answering the phones. If you are forwarded to a voicemail system, this is also checked by the crews. Again, it’s the overflow of call volume, you are not being ignored.
If you see an unsafe situation in the roadway that needs attention, call the non-emergency police number at 440-354-3434 so they can block off the roadway to motorists. Thank you for your patience.

5:45 PM STORM UPDATE: There are multiple power outages and road closures in the city/townships due to fallen trees and branches. All available crews are out working to restore power and open roadways. Please be patient as we work to clean up after the storm.

Trash Pick Up Delay

Republic Services has notified the City to expect delays due to tree damage impacting routes throughout their service areas. As a reminder, yard waste pick up must be in bundles and weigh less than 35 lbs. *Note, our Public Works Department will also be out this week collecting branches and tree debris from the tree lawns. Please make sure branches are in the tree lawn, near the road so our crew can easily see them. Thank you.

Tree Branch/Yard Waste Pick Up

As everyone cleans up from the storm, tree branches and yard debris placed on the tree lawn will be picked up later this week by Public Works. It must be on the tree lawn, near the road for them to see it. Call 440-392-9676 for questions.
