DPO Announces New Director
The Downtown Painesville Organization (DPO) is proud to share the appointment of Stephanie Evans to Executive Director of the DPO, a nonprofit community organization that serves the downtown Painesville area and is an accredited Ohio Main Street Program administered by Heritage Ohio. Evans will start here contract on January 1, 2020.
Evans comes to the DPO with a diverse background working with small businesses and community groups. Most recently she served as director of marketing and sales at The Lantern Group in Madison, Ohio and on the board of directors at the Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce. Painesville will remember Evans as the manager of The Shoppe in the City, a store run by the Lake County Educational Service Center to train special needs adults in retail skills, which was located on 5 S State Street from 2014 to 2017.
“I have always had a special place in my heart for Painesville. I look forward to working with the city and residents to see it continue on its path to a vibrant and culturally diverse community,” said Evans.
The DPO’s mission is to build a strong future in a diverse city where everyone is welcome. This mission in enacted through the Main Street America four point approach that builds on existing resources and fosters improved community leadership for long term benefits. The four points include: Organization or building of consensus and cooperation between the groups that play a role in the downtown, Design which involves improving the downtown’s image by improving its physical appearance, Promotion like highlighting the downtown’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses, tourists, and Economic Vitality which is meant to strengthen and diversify the existing economic base of the downtown.
