Groundbreaking for Student Housing on the Square

On Thursday, April 27, Renew Partners LLC hosted a groundbreaking ceremony and tours of the former Chase Bank Building on the Square. The property is soon to be new housing for Lake Erie College students.

 

The renovated space will house 172 beds, a fitness center, study spaces, hang out area for students on the ground floor, and a restaurant and convenient store that will be open to the public on the ground floor. Suites range from single bed studios to five-bedroom apartments with shared living, kitchen and bathrooms. A Laketran bus stop will also be added on Liberty Street for students.

 

JCI Contractors, Inc. are well underway with all trades on deck. The first two floors are expected to be completed by August 2023 for the 2023-2024 school year. The remaining three floors are expected to be completed in 2024.

 

We are so excited to see the progress and can't wait to see students breathe new life in the downtown.
