(Revised 6/4/2026) Trash and recycling update
The City of Painesville understands and shares the frustration of residents who have experienced missed trash or recycling collections in recent weeks. We recently received notice from Republic Waste that there would be a two-day delay. The delay is a result of the Memorial Day weekend and the is a significant amount of waste being placed at the curb.
Under the current contract, waste, recycling and yard waste collection service remains the responsibility of Republic Services through June 26th. Residents experiencing service issues should contact Republic directly to report missed collections Republic customer service can be contacted at (216) 441-6300. The City continues to monitor the situation and has communicated resident concerns to Republic Services. If, after contacting Republic Services, you have not received service for over 2 days, please contact the Painesville Public Service Department at (440) 392-9676 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Public Service will document your concern, and we will notify Republic Services.
Update: Residents with yard waste that has not yet been collected should leave it at the curb. Collection crews are continuing to work through remaining pickups, and materials left out for service will be collected.
