Memorial Service Honors Lt. Amanda Karduck
On Saturday, September 14, the Painesville City Fire Department held a Celebration of Life and Memorial Dedication for Lieutenant Amanda Karduck, who passed away earlier this year from occupational cancer.
At this time, I would like to thank the following people and organizations for their assistance in making this service possible:
- The Painesville Township Fire Department and Fairport Harbor Fire Department for sending personnel to staff our station during the service to allow our personnel to attend.
- Captain Robert Mrosko and Captain Mike Grubach, for your words.
- IAFF Local 434 President Brennan Carden, for your words.
- Lieutenant Paul Algier, for your work in designing and coordinating the memorial stone.
- To Trevor Behm and John Merk of Behm Funeral Homes, for the donation of the memorial stone and the work on the design.
- To Milano Monument, for the etching and installation of the memorial stone.
- Deputy Chief (Ret.) Ron Terriaco, for performing the Bell Ceremony.
- Battalion Chief Amanda Horvath (Solon Fire Department) for the bagpipes.
- Painesville City employee Leigh Ann Hanzlik, for your words.
- To the current and retired personnel of the Painesville City Fire Department, and all the firefighters from inside and outside Lake County, for support of our sister.
- To the departments who sent apparatus: Painesville Township Fire Department, Madison Fire District, Leroy Twp. Fire Department, Wickliffe, OH Fire Department and Perry Joint Fire District.
- To the First Church Congregational-United Church of Christ, for the use of your parking lot.

We were thankful to be able to have this celebration of a life given in service to the community, on such a beautiful day. This event helped to bring closure to our members and honor one of our own.
