How to Read Your Bill

1. Service Address - address that your utility service is connected to

2. Credit and Changes Since Your Last Bill - a. if there was any remaining balance left on a previous bill, b. any payment made since your last bill, c. any late fees or bill adjustment that may have happened since your last bill and d. the sum of a.-c. that will be added to or subtracted from your current charges -- aka the total amount of your past due balance (+ sign) or credit balance (- sign)

3. Current Charges - a. the date the bill was processed for the current month, b. the date the current amount (c.) is due by, c. the amount of your bill from last month to this month only, d. the amount adding any "Past Due/Credit Balance," "Current Amount Due," as well as the late fee (5% of the Current Amount Due) if the payment is not made prior to this date

4. Total Account Balance - this is the total amount that needs to be paid to put your account at a zero ($0.00) balance

5. Customer Name - this is the name associated with the bill along with the mailing address this customer has requested the bills be mailed to

6. Account # - this is the account number associated with this specific address. Note, the dots and dashes that may be in your account number are important and should be included in anything that asks for your account number

7. Customer # - this is the customer identification number. This number is YOUR number associated with your name and will be your number no matter where you live within our service. If you own multiple properties, you will still only have one Customer Number

8. Bill # - every bill you receive is assigned a number associated with that particular bill only. This number is helpful when you need to inquire with the Utilities Billing Office about a particular bill you have received

9. Pay to the Order of - this simply tells you who to make a check or other form of payment out to

10. Message Center - this is where you find the current month's Power Cost Adjustment. You may also find brief messages from the City on events or reports

11. Calculations - a. type of services that you are being billed for (note, customers who live outside city limits may receive just electric or water service while city residents receive electric, water and sewer), b. the number of billing days in-between meter readings, c. the previous month's meter reading(s), d. the current month's meter reading(s), e. the difference between c. and d. or the amount used to calculate this bill, and f. the total amount billed for each corresponding service (see Rates & Fees to learn more about how your monthly bill is calculated)

12. Total Amount - this is the total amount that needs to be paid to put your account at a zero ($0.00) balance

13. Bottom Portion of Bill - the portion of the bill under the perforation line is your remittance portion that should be included with your payment. This includes the Dollar Bank address you should send your payment to for processing. In this portion of the bill you may also see: CREDIT BALANCE (means no payment is due at this time), AUTO PAY (you are signed up through the Bank AutoPay program and no action is needed), and PAST DUE ACCOUNT (you are in the negative on your account)
