Welcome to Steelhead Alley! The Painesville area is well-known for it's great fishing all year round, but especially for steelhead from September through April. The Grand River is a hotbed for trout, as well as smallmouth bass fishing and Painesville offers many points of access for fishermen/women.

Grand River: Great for Steelhead fishing, September through April. Smallmouth Bass is also prominent.
Fishing Pond: Stocked every April by ODNR, you will find Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Bullhead Catfish, Bluegill and Pumpkinseeds.
Youth Fishing Derby: Every June, the Northeast Ohio Walleye Association hosts their annual Jim Venditti Memorial Youth Fishing Derby at the Rec Park pond. Kids ages 3 to 15 are encouraged to attend (bring your own bait and tackle). The event features raffle prizes, awards and contests.
