Approved haul roads are streets that 4-ton and over trucks should use as a transportation route for their own safety and to not damage residential roadways.

5 Year Road Plan Map (2019-2023)

Updated in 2019. Painesville has an aggressive working timeline for road infrastructure improvement throughout the city. The plan sees the city investing almost $16 million in road projects through 2023, continuing on the momentum of the 2014-2018 road plan which saw $8.2 million in road project investments. The Road Plan is a high priority for city council since the first five-year road levy was passed in 2013 and renewed again in 2017. For more information, visit the Road Plan page.

Pavement Condition Ratings Map

Map updated in 2017. The pavement condition rating (PCR) method used by ODOT and the City of Painesville is based upon visual inspection of pavement distresses. The various distresses for concrete, asphalt and brick pavements are rated on three levels of severity (Low, Medium, High) and three levels of extent (Occasional, Frequent, Extensive). Downtown Painesville Historic District Map

In July 2020, the U.S. National Park Service added Downtown Painesville to the National Register of Historic Places. The honor is a huge boost to Painesville’s revitalization efforts which will ensure that the current historic buildings and sites within the downtown area will be recognized by the U.S. National Park Service and considered a national resource. It also allows local businesses and organizations to apply for preservation tax credits. For more information on Historic Districts, contact the Planning office.

Painesville Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones are a new community investment tool established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities nationwide. Opportunity Zones provide a tax incentive for investors to re-invest their unrealized capital gains into dedicated Opportunity Funds.
