The portal is available 24 hours a day. Payments are reflected in your account immediately.

• Credit card payments include a 3.75% service fee, with a $2.50 minimum.
• eCheck payments include a $1.95 service fee.
• Debit cards without a PIN may be used as credit card payments.
• Your statement may list the charge as “Tyler Tech service fee” or “Tyl Painesville service fee.” Tyler Technologies is the City’s third-party payment processor.
• Service fees are charged by the payment processor and cannot be waived by the City.

Online AutoPay and Future Payments

The Online Customer Portal allows customers to schedule automatic credit card or eCheck payments. Service fees apply.

Online AutoPay is different from Bank AutoPay, which is set up through the Utilities Billing Office and withdraws payment directly from a checking account and has no service fee.

The portal also allows customers to schedule future payments. A future payment is not an official payment plan. If you need a payment plan to avoid disconnection, contact the Utilities Billing Office at (440) 392-5797.

Bank AutoPay is a no-fee option that automatically transfers payment from your checking account on the bill’s due date.

To enroll:

1. Complete the Bank AutoPay Application and attach a voided check.
2. Return the application and voided check in person or by mail to the Utilities Billing Office.
3. Once approved, your bill will continue to arrive by mail or email and will display “DIRECT PAYMENT.”

To cancel Bank AutoPay, contact the Utilities Billing Office at (440) 392-5797.

Payments are considered received on the date they are processed, not the date they are mailed. Allow enough time for delivery and processing to avoid late charges.

Checks may also be placed in either City drop box:

• In the parking lot behind the Fire Department, accessible from E. Erie Street.
• On the rear steps of City Hall, accessible from Mentor Avenue.

Drop boxes are monitored 24 hours a day and emptied by 7:30 a.m. each business day. Do not place cash in a drop box.

Call (833) 465-4624 to pay by credit card or eCheck through the City’s automated payment system. The system is available 24 hours a day.

The City of Painesville Utilities Office is located on the first floor of Painesville City Hall, 7 Richmond Street, Painesville, Ohio. Please note, you must enter through the rear of the building from the back parking lot to enter City Hall. Parking is always free.
